About the Opportunity

WOLF is looking for a full-time Director of Mechanical Engineering based in Aurora, Ontario (Hybrid). The expectation is to be on-site more frequently during orientation and as required based on lab and department needs.

Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in leading and supporting the thermal and mechanical engineering teams through high-paced product development, hands-on problem solving, and collaborative technical oversight.

In this position, you will be primarily responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the thermal and mechanical engineering functions while ensuring quality design output, supporting cross-functional priorities, and driving innovation across new product development and process improvement initiatives.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing, mentoring, and guiding a team of mechanical and thermal engineers, including performance reviews and professional development
  • Reviewing and approving engineering designs, technical outputs, and configuration artifacts
  • Supporting product development through design validation, prototyping, manufacturability assessments, and advanced prototyping initiatives
  • Collaborating with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams on design initiatives, production challenges, and quality assurance
  • Driving improvements to engineering processes, workflows, documentation, and compliance with AS9100 standards
  • Providing technical input during proposal development, customer queries, and procurement activities
  • Supporting field issue investigations, production challenges, and quality control efforts to resolve technical problems
  • Engaging in R&D, advancing new technologies, and contributing to company-wide goals and innovation roadmaps

About You

To qualify, you will need a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 10+ years of experience in mechanical and thermal engineering, ideally within the aerospace or defence industries.

A strong background in electronics packaging and thermal management systems design across the full product lifecycle, including development, prototyping, testing, production support, and troubleshooting, is essential for success in this role.

Eligibility Requirements

WOLF is a military and aerospace manufacturer requiring strict adherence to CGP and ITAR requirements. As a condition of employment, applicants must be able to provide valid documentation to show Canadian or US citizenship or Canadian Permanent Residency and undergo a police check with no criminal background.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Expertise in SolidWorks (primary), with working knowledge of SolidWorks Flow, Siemens Star CCM+, and/or ANSYS Icepack
  • In-depth understanding of environmental and design standards such as MIL-STD-810 and DO-160
  • Demonstrated experience designing for manufacturability and supporting product validation
  • Familiarity with mechanical CAD tools and workflows used in harsh environment applications
  • Knowledge of configuration management and experience signing off on formal design artifacts
  • Ability to assess materials and environmental compliance from a mechanical and thermal engineering lens
  • Strong background in materials science and the selection of materials for harsh environments
  • Knowledge of environmental test regimes and qualification processes used in aerospace and defense industries
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with electrical, firmware/software, quality, and production teams
  • Proven ability to oversee technical teams, mentor junior engineers, and manage shifting priorities
  • A related Master’s degree or PhD (asset)
