About the Opportunity

WOLF is looking for a full-time Senior Mechanical Engineer based in Aurora, Ontario (hybrid).

Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in leading and actively engaging in our Mechanical Engineering projects from inception to completion.

In this position, you will be primarily responsible for all phases of engineering, including hands-on involvement in design, simulation, manufacturing, and verification, ensuring the optimal design and functionality of some of the most sophisticated and capable accelerated compute modules/systems in the world.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Participating in all stages of mechanical design and thermal analysis, from CAD modeling and simulation to creating manufacturing drawings and hands-on assembly verification
  • Mentoring and leading junior staff while fostering a culture of autonomy and empowerment
  • Managing project transitions from design to production, including direct interaction with vendors and oversight of subcontractors
  • Troubleshooting and optimizing designs, applying hands-on skills in thermal and mechanical system refinements
  • Executing the corporate design validation test plan (DVTP) and documenting artifact validations
  • Supporting design reviews of mechanical and thermal designs prior to baseline release
  • Enhancing existing product thermal performance and electro-mechanical part optimization
  • Seeking out and building valuable relationships with third-party design companies

About You

To qualify, you need 3-4+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical or thermal engineering, focused on electronics packaging and thermal management systems, preferably in the military or aerospace industries. A post-secondary diploma in Mechanical or Thermal Engineering, or a related field, is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. You must also have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.

Eligibility Requirements

WOLF is a military and aerospace manufacturer requiring strict adherence to CGP and ITAR requirements. As a condition of employment, applicants must be able to provide valid documentation to show Canadian or US citizenship or Canadian Permanent Residency and undergo a police check with no criminal background.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Expertise in engineering Mechanical CAD design such as SOLIDWORKS (primary) or CATIA
  • Capability/experience with Solid Works Flow, Siemens Star CCM+, ANSYS Icepack thermal analysis/simulation will be a significant asset to this position 
  • Experience in electronics packaging employing innovative thermal management solutions for high reliability operating in harsh environments
  • In-depth understanding of design/environmental standards such as MIL-STD-810 or DO-160
  • Advanced skills in the design of intricate metal assemblies and embedded thermal management solutions
  • Proven ability to mentor junior staff and inspire a collaborative environment
  • Serve as a key lieutenant to the Sr. Director, helping to manage the team and drive cultural change towards more effective and innovative engineering practices
  • Master's degree in a relevant fields is considered an asset
