Your Mission Brief

WOLF Advanced Technology is on the hunt for a full-time SMT Operator to join our growing in-house manufacturing team in Aurora, Ontario.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, SMT, you’ll play a mission-critical role in bringing our SMT production line to life, owning hands-on operation and ensuring high-performance PCB assembly from day one.

This is a ground-floor opportunity to help build WOLF’s SMT capability from scratch. You’ll work in a small, highly technical team, operating across the full production line from printing through inspection. The environment is fast-paced, detail-driven, and fully on-site, with a strong focus on precision, speed, and problem-solving in a high-mix, low-to-medium volume setting.

As SMT Operator at WOLF, you might…

  • Set up and run the full SMT line: Operate across solder paste printing, pick-and-place, reflow, and inspection equipment to drive end-to-end production
  • Execute high-speed feeder setups: Install and configure feeders efficiently to keep changeovers tight and production moving
  • Optimize production flow: Manage machine readiness and material flow to minimize downtime and maximize throughput
  • Troubleshoot in real time: Identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, and process issues directly on the line
  • Inspect and validate output: Use AOI and visual inspection techniques to ensure builds meet IPC-A-610 Class 3 standards
  • Handle ultra-fine components: Work with extremely small parts requiring precise hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
  • Support process improvements: Collaborate with engineering and quality to reduce defects and improve yield
  • Own day-to-day production: Operate with autonomy on the floor while contributing to a collaborative, high-accountability team

At WOLF, your work directly powers mission-critical aerospace and defense systems. This is your chance to build something from the ground up and make an immediate, tangible impact.

Your Edge

You bring 5+ years of hands-on experience in SMT manufacturing, ideally within aerospace, defence, or other high-reliability electronics environments. You have worked directly on production floors operating and supporting full SMT lines, with a strong understanding of workflows from solder paste printing through to inspection.

You have practical experience working to IPC-A-610 Class 3 standards and understand the expectations of high-reliability PCB assembly. You are highly proficient in handling ultra-small components, with strong hand-eye coordination and fine motor control required for precise placement, inspection, and feeder setup in high-density builds.

What You Bring

  • SMT Line Operation: Experience running end-to-end SMT processes including printing, pick-and-place, reflow, and inspection
  • Equipment Familiarity: Hands-on exposure to SPI, AOI, and reflow oven systems in a production setting
  • Feeder Setup Efficiency: Proven ability to configure feeders quickly and accurately in high-component-count builds
  • IPC Standards Knowledge: Working familiarity with IPC-A-610 Class 3 workmanship requirements
  • Troubleshooting Capability: Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues on the line
  • Component Handling Precision: Experience working with ultra-small components requiring strong hand-eye coordination
  • Process Awareness: Understanding of SMT workflows, material flow, and production sequencing
  • Basic Programming Exposure: Familiarity with SMT programming concepts for placement, inspection, or process setup
  • Preventative Maintenance: Experience performing routine equipment checks, calibration, and upkeep
  • Production Environment Experience: Background in contract manufacturing or similar high-mix production environments

This is a role for someone who thrives on the floor, takes ownership of production, and is ready to contribute immediately in a fast-moving, high-precision environment.
