Your Mission Brief
WOLF is seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer (New Graduate) to join our Engineering team. This role is designed for a recent Electrical or Computer Engineering graduate with a strong foundation in digital electronics, embedded systems, and hardware design.
Working alongside experienced engineers, you will support the design, development, and testing of advanced embedded computing hardware for rugged military and aerospace applications. You will gain hands-on experience with QMC/FGX modules, VPX carrier boards, VITA-based hardware, schematic design, PCB development, board bring-up, and hardware validation. In this exciting role, you will:
- Support the design and development of embedded hardware modules and carrier boards
- Assist with schematic capture, component selection, BOM development, and PCB design activities
- Support hardware designs involving FPGAs, processors, memory, power, clocks, reset circuitry, connectors, and management interfaces
- Assist with VPX and VITA carrier-board development, including PCIe interfaces, power distribution, and connector and lane assignments
- Participate in prototype board bring-up, testing, debugging, and troubleshooting
- Use lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and power supplies to support hardware testing
- Support hardware verification and validation against established design requirements
- Participate in schematic, PCB, and engineering design reviews
- Document test results, design changes, technical issues, and engineering decisions
- Collaborate closely with hardware, FPGA, firmware, mechanical, thermal, and test engineering teams
- Support prototype builds, engineering changes, and new product introduction activities
- Develop your knowledge of rugged hardware design, high-speed digital interfaces, and VPX/VITA standards
Your Edge
You are a recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, with a strong academic foundation in digital electronics, embedded systems, and hardware development.
You have gained hands-on exposure to electronic hardware through academic projects, co-op placements, internships, engineering design teams, capstone projects, or personal projects. You have a basic understanding of schematic design and PCB development and are comfortable reading schematics, datasheets, and other technical documentation.
You have experience or familiarity with FPGAs, processors, or embedded hardware platforms and are eager to expand your knowledge of advanced embedded computing systems. Exposure to PCB design tools such as Cadence, Altium, KiCad, or similar platforms is considered an asset, along with experience working with AMD/Xilinx or Intel FPGA platforms.
Familiarity with interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, or UART, as well as exposure to VPX, VITA, XMC, QMC, or similar embedded computing platforms, would be beneficial but is not required. Experience with board bring-up, troubleshooting, robotics, Formula SAE, aerospace, satellite, or other hands-on engineering projects is also an asset.
Above all, you are curious, detail-oriented, and eager to learn. You bring strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills and are excited to develop your technical abilities while contributing to advanced hardware used in demanding military and aerospace environments.
Wolfpack Perks
At WOLF, we invest in you – not just through a competitive base salary, tailored to your skills and experience, but with growth, and work-life balance. This role is a one-year contract, with opportunity for extension to a permanent position. Here’s what you can look forward to:
